The internet is a vast place where you can find out about anything you want in a matter of seconds. I would say the internet has more advantages rather than disadvantages, for example if you wanted to talk to your friend who is on vacation in Europe you can hop on skype and be talking within minutes. The internet makes communication instantaneous, and not to mention its free. Another advantage would be the accessibility to information on any topic at the tip of your fingers. All you have to do is google what your looking for and there it is. News in the past was always showed over the television on news channels. Now a days you can go online and see what is happening much quicker than waiting for your news program to tell you. Another advantage is how easy it is to entertain yourself with a computer, you can watch videos, play games, or just surf the web for hours according to Buzzle. Although the advantages seem great there are also many disadvantages to the internet. One example would be cyber bullying. The internet allows for people to hide behind a computer screen and rip people apart. Another huge disadvantage of the internet is fraud and identity theft. There are loads of people out there who are constantly trying to steal your identity or your credit card. You have to be very careful where you buy things online, there a lot of scams out there. One of the biggest disadvantages to me would be the exposure of mature content to young kids. Im not talking about explicit things but just adult things that kids don’t need to learn or see at a young age. Kids are growing up much faster because they see whats cool or what older kids are doing and want to be like them. The internet is a big place that yields many positives along with many negatives.
